BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

On the southern edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this lodge occupies a hillside above the Nkuringo community and the forest escarpment below. The site faces the montane canopy and, on clear days, the Virunga volcanoes to the south. Cool highland conditions and frequent mist define the climate at this altitude.

Guest cottages follow the slope, spaced along footpaths that connect to a central lodge building used for meals and gathering. Construction uses local stone, timber, and thatch, materials suited to the cool conditions and the look of the surrounding farmland. Rooms face the valley so morning light enters before trekking and the view remains visible on return. The layout allows guests to move easily between private accommodation and the main lodge without vehicle transfers. Staff coordinate permits and briefings, making early departures to the Nkuringo trailhead straightforward.
